Hello! I am a 36 year old husband, father, athlete, and business owner. I grew up in a large military family with 9 other siblings and currently reside in Leavenworth KS. My hobbies include crossfit, working in my roofing business, going to bed at 8:00pm on Friday nights, and playing with my kids. I graduated from the University of Saint Mary with a degree in history and business. I also played football there as well.
The Sparta 300 is at the core of who I am. Let me explain.
The Sparta 300 is about a collection of athletes training and working together to accomplish a goal for the greater common good. The "race" is a total of 378km - essentially a marathon a day for 8 days. We start in Sparta, Greece and end at the Hot Gates of Thermoplyae. It will require intense focus over a 14 week period to prepare myself and raise money for the charities.
Immediately, this venture speaks to me. At my core I am a leader. As a leader, I have a responsibility to serve not only my local community but the world. Together as a team of athletes we are committed to raising money for two different charities that serve our local communities and the world:
Charity Vision - completes thousands of eye surgeries every year in 26 different countries around the world.
Navy Seal Foundation - assists families of deceased or wounded Seals with counseling, education, and monetary support for medical expenses.
Knowing that my efforts will allow someone to see clearly so they can function on a daily basis OR provide a college scholarship to the daughter of a soldier that lost his life in combat GIVES me the motivation to wake up and train for this event.
Any and all support is welcome!
