Hello, my name is Steve Grobecker. I have two sons, Grant and Ben ages 8 and 6. I am married to my incredible wife Teresa and we live in San Francisco, CA. I am a civilian, and have been working in the financial services industry for 22 years.
My Mom and Dad live in upstate New York, and this is where I grew up. My Dad being the former Marine from the Vietnam era had a lot of influence in my life growing up. I went to a Catholic military school in Troy, NY (La Salle Institute) where I learned the basic JROTC life, and where I learned how to become a leader. My Dad and I had a goal of me attending The Naval Academy so that I can graduate and become an officer in the Marines. Life took a different turn for me, and I graduated from Northeastern University in Boston.
I did not have the chance to enlist in the military, but always had a tremendous amount of respect for what the men and women do to defend our country!
When my Dad retired from the NY State Police, he wanted to help veterans that came back from Afghanistan and Iraq that suffered from PTSD. After a few years of helping veterans, this triggered his PTSD that he has today. He is also suffering from the Agent Orange chemicals that he fell victim to in Vietnam. Needless to say, my Dad is the warrior that defended our country, so I am choosing to participate in the Sparta 300 in his honor and all of the warriors that have and are defending our country.
The Sparta 300 is a 300 mile, 8 day endurance event that starts in Sparta Greece, and ends in Thermopylae, the same march that the Spartans made to defend their nation!
It will be an honor to walk with some of our nation's warriors, as well as civilians like me to raise money to support the Navy SEAL Foundation, the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation and Charity Vision. As I walk with my Team of 30, I will be thinking about my Dad and everything he has done for me and my family, we wouldn't be here without him!
It will be an amazing honor to help veterans that have helped us by defending our nation!
Hooyah, and thank you!
